Meet the driving force:

Club officials and members

Every year, Rotary Clubs around the world induct a new President to serve from 1st July till the 30th June, and this year was no different for the Rotary Club of Blouberg.

At a breakfast, held recently at the Blowfish Restaurant, we saw Jackie Claydon (below left) inducted as its new President for the 2025/26 term.  At the function, outgoing President Lynne Wade reflected on a year filled with meaningful community work and heartfelt collaboration. She proudly shared the many successful projects the club completed over the past year and extended her thanks to the 35 dedicated members who helped make this possible.

One of the highlights of the morning was the presentation of the Rainmaker of the year Award to the new president Jackie and her husband, Graham Claydon. He was also recognised with a prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award, Rotary’s highest honour for his ongoing commitments and efforts in supporting the local community.

The Rotary Club of Blouberg is a charitable organisation who continues to be a driving force for good in the local community. Among its many recent projects are:

  • The major upgrade of the Vaatjie Mor Primary School on the old Mamre Road, which was made possible through International Rotary Club partnerships.
  • Sponsorship of 5 learners to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) camp held in Franschhoek, supported by four generous benefactors.
  • A Rotary District Grant that supplied much needed stationery to learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • A partnership with Bayside Shopping Centre to collect Easter Eggs which were donated to local crèches.
  • The preparation and delivery of ‘Jars of Hope’, dry soup meals designed to feed a family of 6 to 8, distributed over the last month to vulnerable families struggling through Cape Town’s cold and wet winter.

The Club welcomes new members and volunteers who are passionate about uplifting their community. If you’d like to get involved or learn more about their projects, contact Jackie Claydon on 083 557 1020 or membership@bloubergrotary.org
