Lynne Wade, a Rotarian of 26 years, was inducted as the Blouberg Rotary Club President for the year 2024/5, by District Governor Stephen Young, at a breakfast held at the Blue Peter Hotel in Bloubergstrand on the 6th July 2024.

Lynne initially joined Milnerton Rotaract and in 1998, she was inducted into Milnerton Rotary Club as their first lady member. They were a small but very active Rotary Club, who always participated in the annual multi-organisation One-to-One day for people with disabilities, which was held at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town. They assisted the Brooklyn Chest Hospital with various needs and ran the Hamburger and Chips stand at the annual Cheshire Home Fete. They also ran the Makro Cycle Tour fundraiser.

While attending the Rotaract Convention in Istanbul, she met her husband, Richard.  In London, they were members of the Canary Wharf Rotary Club, but 6 years later they relocated back to Cape Town and joined the Milnerton Rotary Club. When Milnerton merged with Blouberg, Lynne and Richard joined the Blouberg Rotary Club. The Milnerton Rotary Club members brought their projects to the Blouberg Rotary Club and we have been continuing with them all these years.

Lynne has been instrumental in arranging a Gala Theatre evening at the Milnerton Playhouse every year, with great success. She brings many prizes to the table which we raffle to raise more funds for our projects. She has arranged our games stall for the multi-organisation One to One Day for people with disabilities every year, and organises the annual collection of food for Christmas hampers for needy pensioners. She is always willing to assist with any and every project Blouberg Rotary Club gets involved with. She enjoys designing posters, brochures, certificates and graphics for club projects and events, which assist in raising funds for the club and promoting the club’s public profile.

As Lynne had volunteered in community service for many years, it was only fitting that she should continue the tradition of serving as President of every club in which she has been a member.
